I finally made it to The Heritage Park Tranquillity in Saundersfoot after a drive that was equal parts scenic and sodding infuriating. Picture this: me, the wife, and our two lads piled into the car from Cardiff, sat-nav chirping away like it owned the road. We'd planned a proper relaxed family break – three days of nothing but sea air, sandy toes, and zero alarm clocks. But about halfway, just past Tenby, I took a wrong turn onto some narrow lane that looked like it led to Narnia. Cue 20 minutes of reversing past bemused sheep while the kids chanted "Are we there yet?" from the back. Classic dad fail – I blamed the sat-nav, naturally, but secretly it was my fault for fiddling with the radio. The lads bolted upstairs first, claiming the two twin rooms with their bunk beds and sea-view windows. Sat on the pebbles, munching as gulls circled hopefully, I had one of those quiet moments. Watching the kids chase waves, Sarah's hand in mine, I reflected on how we rarely switch off at home.
