About North Wales
Pulling up to the lodge just as twilight hit, I was knackered but buzzing. Tucked away in that sweet spot near Abersoch's sandy stretches, it's one of those wooden-clad beauties that screams "cosy coastal hideaway." The key safe clicked open first go – small mercy after my detour – and stepping inside? Blimey, instant hit of that warm, piney scent mixed with sea air wafting through the cracked window. The open-plan living space opened right up, all honey-coloured wood panels and a massive sofa that looked like it could swallow you whole for a Netflix binge. I dumped my bags and flopped down, staring at the wood-burning stove begging for a fire. First impressions? Proper inviting, like the place was giving me a big hug after my road rage. Kitchen was a dream for a lazy holidaymaker like me – granite tops gleaming, a huge American-style fridge stocked with the basics (cheers, Snaptrip hosts), and enough mugs for a Welsh tea party. I cracked open a tin of Heinz beans (emergency rations) and rustled up toast on the gas hob, the kind that doesn't spit fat everywhere. But the real jaw-dropper was peering out the bifold doors to the decking area. There it was: postcard-perfect views over the dunes towards Abersoch beach, the tide just starting to creep in under a pinky sky. Seagulls squawking like they owned the joint, and in the distance, the gentle whoosh of waves on Porth Neigwl. I stepped out barefoot, feeling the cool boards underfoot, and just breathed it in. After that silly driving faff, this was pure balm. The bedrooms? Up the creaky stairs (love a good creak, feels lived-in), and the master was massive – king-sized bed piled with duck-down duvets, windows framing the starry night already twinkling. Twin room for mates next time, and a bunk for the nippers we didn't bring. Spotless en-suite with a rainfall shower that I tested immediately – hot water galore, steaming up the mirror for some foggy selfies. Downstairs loo was quirky, tucked under the stairs like a Harry Potter cupboard, but pristine. As I sat on the deck with a cuppa, watching bats flit about, I had one of those quiet moments. Here I was, mid-forties, faffing about with wrong turns and solo suppers, but this lodge? It reminded me why I chase these getaways. Life's too short for perfect journeys; it's the messy arrivals that make the first impressions stick. That night, cosy under the covers with the sea's lullaby humming through the walls, I was already plotting day two – beach strolls and chippy teas down in Abersoch village. What a belter of a start. Can't wait to spill more, but honestly, if you're after North Wales magic, this 3 Bed Lodge is your ticket. |
