About Newport
By the time I pulled into the car park at Deluxe Lodge With Parking, the sun was dipping low, casting that golden glow over everything, and suddenly the chaos felt like a distant memory. The lodge is tucked away in a peaceful spot just on the edge of Newport—close enough to pop into town for a pint, but far enough to feel like your own little woodland retreat. I parked up effortlessly (thank god for that 'with parking' bit in the name), grabbed my keys from the handy lockbox, and stepped inside. Blimey, what a belter of a first impression. It's one of those modern luxe lodges, all sleek lines and cosy vibes, with a proper ensuite that screams 'treat yourself'. The decking out back wraps around like a hug, overlooking a quiet green space that's perfect for morning coffee or evening GandTs—none of your draughty caravan nonsense here. I dumped my bags and had a proper nose around. The open-plan living area is spot on: squishy sofa begging to be lounged on, a telly bigger than my flat's one back home, and a kitchen kitted out with everything you'd need to rustle up a full Welsh breakfast. I couldn't resist cracking open a bag of crisps and cracking a beer while I took it all in. The decor's tasteful—think neutral tones with pops of blue that nod to the sea not too far off, even if Newport's more river than ocean. And the bed? King-sized heaven, piled high with pillows that made me want to dive straight in. First impressions? Ten out of ten. It felt like the kind of place you'd book for a romantic weekend, but solo me was loving every second of the solo indulgence. That evening, I wandered out onto the decking as the light faded, listening to the birds settling in and the distant hum of Newport life. No traffic noise, no neighbours banging about—just pure calm after my arrival kerfuffle. I chuckled to myself about the sat nav fiasco; if that was the worst of it, I was sorted. Popped down to the nearby Co-op—five minutes' drive, easy peasy—for some local cheddar and a bottle of Brains SA, then back for a simple supper. Sat there munching, feet up, I had one of those gentle moments of reflection: life's too short for rubbish holidays. Here I was, in this cracking lodge, miles from the daily grind, with three whole days ahead. Why had I not done this sooner? Newport might not shout 'holiday hotspot' like Cardiff or the valleys, but this spot nails that perfect balance of convenience and escape. The first impressions were so bang-on, I was already plotting my return. If you're after a fuss-free base to unwind, Deluxe Lodge is the ticket—parking mishaps and all. |
