It directed me down a narrow cobbled lane that narrowed into what felt like a pedestrian-only alley, complete with a low-hanging streetlamp I swear wasn't on the map. Upstairs, the bedrooms were snug as a bug, with the main one's window offering a sneaky peek over the rooftops to the spa complex on the cliff edge. No grand luxury, just honest, characterful charm that screamed "proper holiday."

Reflecting on it now, that daft driving mishap was the perfect icebreaker – a gentle nudge that I'm not cut out for seamless arrivals, but boy, does it make the good bits sweeter. Castle View wrapped me in instant comfort, its position turning every glance outside into a mini-adventure. Scarborough's magic unfolded right there from the doorstep: the ebb and flow of the tide, the castle's timeless watch over the bay, and that unbeatable sense of being plonked in the thick of it all. If this was just the first hour, the next few days promised pure bliss.
