About Shropshire
I’ll never forget the drive to Redwood Lodge VIP Hot Tub near Bridgnorth in Shropshire—it was one of those crisp autumn afternoons where the leaves were putting on their annual fireworks display, all fiery oranges and golds carpeting the winding lanes. I’d set off from the M54 with high hopes for a cheeky three-day getaway, but about five miles out, disaster struck in the form of a rogue pheasant. The daft bird decided to play chicken with my car right on a narrow bend near Much Wenlock, forcing me into an emergency swerve that sent my thermos of tea flying everywhere. Miraculously, no harm done except to my dignity and the passenger seat upholstery—classic me, turning a scenic drive into a slapstick comedy.

By the time I pulled up to Redwood Lodge that late October afternoon, the sun was dipping low, casting long shadows over the Shropshire Hills and turning the air that perfect nippy chill that screams “cosy night in.” Autumn’s in full swing here, you see, with mist rolling in from the Severn Valley like a gentle blanket, and the lodge nestled right in it, just a stone’s throw from Bridgnorth’s quirky cliffs. I parked up on the gravel drive, crunching leaves underfoot, and there she was: this gorgeous VIP lodge, all timber-clad charm with a private hot tub bubbling away on the deck like it was waiting just for me. First impressions? Blimey, it was love at first sight. The owners had decked it out with seasonal touches—pumpkins glowing on the porch steps and fairy lights twinkling against the twilight, making it feel like a proper autumn hideaway.

Stepping inside was pure magic, shaped entirely by the time of year. The open-plan living space hit me with that toasty warmth from the wood-burning stove, flames crackling away as if they knew I’d arrived half-frozen from the drive. Outside, the hot tub was steaming invitingly, surrounded by hedges heavy with berries and the last stubborn leaves clinging to the trees. I dumped my bags and cracked open a bottle of local Shropshire cider—none of your mass-produced stuff, this was crisp and cloudy, perfect for the season—and headed straight out to sink into those jets. The water was scorching, a glorious contrast to the cooling evening air that nipped at my cheeks. Overhead, the sky bruised into purples and the first stars winked through the branches; it was like the hot tub had been designed for autumn evenings, with steam rising to mingle with the woodsmoke from nearby cottages. I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself—here I was, a city lad who usually panics at the first fallen leaf, floating in bubbly bliss while squirrels rustled in the undergrowth, hoarding nuts like tiny eco-warriors.

That first evening set the tone, all wrapped up in autumn’s embrace. I lounged there for hours, watching the mist thicken over the fields towards Quatt, the lodge’s quiet spot feeling worlds away from anywhere. The VIP touches shone through—the tub’s powerful bubbles massaging away the week’s stresses, and inside, the kitchen stocked with fluffy towels and a welcome hamper of seasonal treats like apple chutney from a local farm shop. No need to venture far; the garden wrapped around you with its pergola draped in fading ivy, and the sound of distant church bells from Bridgnorth floating on the breeze. It made me pause for a gentle think—amid the whirl of leaves and that fleeting golden light, how often do we rush past these simple joys? Arriving here, with autumn painting everything in such vivid strokes, reminded me to slow down, breathe in the earthy scent of damp woodland, and just be.

Waking the next morning to frost-kissed windows and the lodge’s underfloor heating kicking in was the cherry on top. Sunlight filtered through, gilding the breakfast nook where I scoffed fresh scones slathered in jam, gazing out at the dew-spangled lawns. Even the insignificant pheasant drama felt like a funny footnote now. Redwood Lodge VIP Hot Tub isn’t just a stay; in autumn’s glow, it’s a full-on sensory hug from Shropshire itself. If you’re after first impressions that linger like woodsmoke on your jumper, book it for the season—it’ll have you hooked before you’ve unpacked.
