About Cornwall
I finally made it to 2 Meadow Retreat near Liskeard after what felt like the scenic route from hell—well, not hell, just a cheeky little detour caused by my sat-nav deciding to play hide-and-seek with the narrow Cornish lanes. Picture this: me, white-knuckling the steering wheel of my little Fiesta, convinced I'd ended up in a hedge maze from some posh period drama. A quick U-turn (and a muttered curse or two) sorted it, and suddenly there it was, tucked away in a peaceful meadow just outside town. Cornwall had me hooked from that first glimpse—rolling green fields, the distant hum of the countryside, and not a traffic jam in sight.

Pulling up to the lodge that Friday afternoon, I was grinning like an idiot. It's one of those proper cosy retreats, all wood and charm, with a veranda that screams "put your feet up and forget the world." I dumped my bags, cracked open the door, and whoosh—pure bliss. The open-plan living space is spot on for solo unwinding: squishy sofa facing a wood burner (already stocked, bless the hosts), a telly for rainy days, and a kitchenette that's more than enough for brewing endless cups of tea. Upstairs, the bedroom's a haven—king-size bed piled high with pillows, and those skylights letting in the softest light. First impressions? It's like the universe saying, "Oi, stop rushing about and just breathe."

That first evening set the tone perfectly. No grand plans, just me, a GandT from the local offy, and the garden calling my name. It's a proper sun trap, wildflowers nodding in the breeze, with a couple of loungers begging for a laze-about. I flopped down as the sun dipped low, watching bees bumble around like they owned the place. Dinner was lazy as you like—pasta knocked up from the fridge basics, eaten outside while the sky turned that incredible Cornish pink. No restaurants, no faffing; just the joy of doing bugger all, with birdsong as my soundtrack.

Saturday morning? Pure indulgence. Woke to birds chirping through the skylight, no alarm, no agenda. Brewed coffee strong enough to wake the dead, then back to bed with a dog-eared paperback I'd been meaning to crack for months. The hours melted away—reading, dozing, reading some more. Around noon, fancying a gentle potter, I wandered the five-minute stroll to the nearby woodland paths. Cornwall's got that magic, doesn't it? Mossy trees, babbling streams, and not another soul to interrupt my thoughts. Picked up a pasty from the farm shop en route—proper job, stuffed with local beef and spuds—and ambled back to devour it on the veranda. Sat there for hours, feet up, letting the world slow to a crawl.

By Sunday, I'd hit peak relaxation. A light drizzle pattered on the roof, turning the lodge into a hygge dream. Curled up with more tea and my book, I reflected on how knackered I'd been before arriving—work stress piling up like Cornwall's famous pasties. Here, in this little meadow haven, everything hushed. No emails pinging, no deadlines nipping at my heels. Just me, slowing down, realising how rare and bloody brilliant it is to let go. A cheeky nap later, I explored the garden nooks properly—discovered a hidden bench under an apple tree, perfect for pondering life's simpler joys.

Leaving 2 Meadow Retreat felt like abandoning an old mate. Those first impressions linger: the unhurried pace, the cosy nooks, the sheer delight in doing sweet sod all. If Cornwall's teaching me anything, it's that sometimes the best holiday is the one where you barely leave the garden. Can't wait to return and laze some more.
