About Welcome Hjem Log Cabin.
Felton is a charming village in rural Northumberland, between Morpeth and Alnwick. It offers a shop with post office, coffee shop, pub and restaurant. Just 10 miles from Alnwick Castle and its famous gardens—Europe's largest cascading water feature, treehouse, rose and walled gardens. Iconic as Hogwarts in Harry Potter films. Alnwick has shops, pubs, eateries, plus nearby sandy beaches, castles and Farne Islands boat trips. Perfect for exploring Northumberland's Heritage Coast. Nearby attractions.
About Northumberland
Pulling into the gravel drive, though, all that chaos melted away. Welcome Hjem Log Cabin sits tucked away in a peaceful spot just outside Morpeth, surrounded by rolling fields and those proper Northumberland skies that stretch on forever. It's one of those Scandi-style log cabins that look like they've been plucked from a hygge magazine – all warm wood cladding, a pitched roof with skylights, and a little veranda begging for a cuppa. I parked up, grabbed my bags, and fumbled the key code on the smart lock (another minor tech fail on my part), but once inside, blimey, it was love at first step. The open-plan living space hit me like a cosy hug. A plush corner sofa faced a wood-burning stove already set with logs – I could practically smell the pine crackling. The kitchen was a dream: shiny granite worktops, a Nespresso machine (salvation after my flask ran dry), and a retro Smeg fridge stocked with local milk and butter from a nearby farm shop. I cracked open a bottle of Northumberland ale I'd picked up en route and flopped onto the sofa, staring out at the hot tub bubbling away on the deck. It overlooks a wildflower meadow, with birds flitting about – robins and the odd cheeky magpie eyeing me up as if to say, "You're late, mate." Wandering through, I found the bedroom pure bliss: a massive king-sized bed piled high with goose-down duvets and pillows that screamed "sink in and forget the world." The en-suite shower was one of those rainfall ones, steaming up the mirrored walls, and there's even underfloor heating keeping your toes toasty. Outside, the private garden felt like my own little slice of wilderness – a fire pit ready for marshmallows, and that hot tub calling my name under a canopy of stars. No traffic noise, no neighbours yakking; just the distant low of cattle and the whisper of wind through the trees. As I sat there that first evening, feet up with a GandT fizzing, I had a proper moment of reflection. Life back home's been a whirlwind – deadlines, emails, the usual grind. Here, arriving in a flap only made the peace hit harder. It's like the cabin knew I needed resetting; that small mishap on the road was just the universe's way of making me slow down and appreciate the quiet magic. Northumberland's got this way of wrapping you up gently, doesn't it? If you're after a bolt-hole that feels like a warm embrace from the off, Welcome Hjem's your spot. Can't wait to fire up that stove tomorrow. |
